Antiques Telephones

Arturo Roucau: collector, founder of the National Museum of Telecommunications and the Ericsson's Museum in Argentina. He spent more than 40 years working on antiques phones restoration, putting old phones into original state for collectors, corporations, and Museums. Today, is owner of big collection of "original antique phones": units and spare parts from the various periods of telephone design, from a variety of manufacturers, and from different countries, catalogs and technical books of the beginning of 1900.

"Some people think you can plan your future or your vocation, but in this case, vocation is born with Roucau… at the age of 15 he saw for the first time an antique phone at Devoto train station, in Buenos Aires At that moment he realized that it was his FUTURE.
Following some good friend's advice, Mario Lobo, he studied Telephony and Telecommunications, starting a career against all what his elder expected from him: he had to be a lawyer…
When he was 21 he was already a professional, so, at the National Phone Company public auctions he bought a lot of units and bring them into life again…
He is an indefatigable explorer of the best finish, putting every old unit into the original state working on nickel plated, brass, paint, old "logos", etc..
In the '70s he traveled to USA in order to meet other collectors and phone enterprises.
During those years, the Engineer Enrique Saffons contacted him in order to found the National Museum of Telecommunications in Argentina. Some years later, this varied exhibition was shown to the world.
In the '80 y '90, Roucau started with telephone business, managing his own shop during 16 years. Nature forces guided him to Patagonia Argentina, the place where he lives now, in company of her wife, following his labour of restoration.
In 1998, the Engineer Cristian Martinez and Mr. President of the Ericsson's Company, Rolando Zubiran, wanted to found the Ericsson Museum for Argentina, then Roucau, offered his loved collection of 84 original units in impeccable state, and restored many others.
So, nowadays, enjoying nature in a Patagonia forest, he follows with restoration of antique phones with the same passion as before
This is honor of lifeThanks, Arturo, for all those phones, people can enjoy all over the world, after being touch by your hands...."

With LOVE, your wife Susana
